TGI 485 – More Marvel Time, Bub!
We return a little later this week, for good reason, as we wait for PlayStation to finally showcase their upcoming games. But before we breakdown the latest exclusives from the house of Kratos, Ryan and Jocelyn introduce listeners to their Extra Life plans! In the news, we kick things off with the story that Nintendo may be adding Game Boy and Game Boy Colour games to their online service, and Alan Wake finally returns with a Remaster of the original game and DLC. Finally, we close the show with our highlights from the PlayStation Showcase!
TGI 484 – Wakanda for 3-5 Hours
As promised, we kick off the show with our 12 Minutes spoiler discussion. After an extra week with the game, we’ve got some thoughts to get off our chests. If you’re avoiding spoilers, or want to avoid discussion on the game (as it goes PLACES), check the time stamps below and skip ahead. Following 12 Minutes, Ryan has returned to Square Enix’s Marvels Avengers with the latest content drop: War for Wakanda Expansion. In the news, we have the latest Activision Blizzard update with the planned renaming of McCree in Overwatch, we go over some highlights from Opening Night Live at GamesCom (including the confirmed delay of Horizon Forbidden West), and we discuss the first images from the new Resident Evil movie.
TGI 483 – Many Turns, Little Sleep
Looking forward to our thoughts on Twelve Minutes? Ryan has some non-spoiler points to share, but we’re going to wait until next episode for a full spoiler discussion. So head on over to Xbox Game Pass and play! What have we played? Well, Jocelyn and Ryan both played HUMANKIND, a brand new 4X game from Amplitude Studios. Heavily inspired by Civilization, the game really took hold of Jocelyn’s sleep schedule, as most 4X games tend to do. One more turn? Yes please!
TGI 482 – I’m Seeing Other Weapons
We return to the inn with not one, but two brand new roguelites to discuss! Ryan brought Dreamscaper to the show, while Jocelyn completed Boyfriend Dungeon. Both innkeepers entered the world of Pokémon Unite on Nintendo Switch, and share some thoughts on the new MOBA from Pokémon Company and Tencent. In the news, we cover the latest on Activision Blizzard and how they’ve treated QA and CS contract staff, FROSTPUNK 2 HAS BEEN ANNOUNCED (and we’re excited), Fortnite absorbs the Among Us gameplay style, and Stranger Things will be exiting Dead by Day light soon.
TGI 481 – Corporate Overlords in Space
Ryan welcomes Jocelyn back to the show with talk of the Sonic movie sequel casting Idris Elba as Knuckles the Echidna. In her time off, Jocelyn purchased a new curved monitor to up her spreadsheet game. Moving over to games played, Jocelyn rolled the dice with a new resource management simulation game out of early access called Atomic Society. Ryan on the other hand took Jocelyn’s recommendation to heart and played A LOT of Imagine Earth. Moving over to the news, we update everyone on the Activision Blizzard situation, discussing Fran Townsend stepping down from the company’s women’s network, an Activision Blizzard shareholder joining the fight in calling for a better response from the company, and more confirmed firings of Blizzard developers. Our last news story of the show looks at Niantic’s response to a player protest against the roll back of pandemic changes to Pokemon Go.
TGI 480 – FE Days of Old with Dark Deity
Joce is away this week, so Ryan welcomes Babylon Redeemer on to the show. Also known as Josh! Ryan and Josh discuss Dark Deity, a Steam game that is heavily inspired by the Fire Emblem franchise. In the news, we go over the updates for the Activision Blizzard situation, with the employee walkout, new leadership announced at Blizzard, and a second lawsuit against Activision Blizzard because of the State of California suit. We also offer our thoughts on the new Steam Deck hardware, the potential for a Horizon Forbidden West delay into 2022, and Aloy joining Genshin Impact in the Fall.
TGI 479 – Time to Change
This week’s Gamers’ Inn focuses on the State of California suing Activision Blizzard for operating a workplace that created a breeding ground for harassment and discrimination against women. In past Gamers’ Inn episodes we’ve discussed how women are treated in the video game industry, in video game communities, and in video games in general, and we’ve said it’s time to listen. But now, we’re saying it’s time to change.
TGI 478 – Expensive amiibo Shortcut
Both Ryan and Jocelyn are all in on The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD, with the game, the amiibo, and the new Joy-Cons. After a return trip to 2011, we dive into the news for a bit with a confirmation from Netflix about getting into games, and the Director of FFXIV addressing a sudden surge in players and how they’re addressing server instability. Oh, and don’t worry, we’ll chat about Steam Deck next week!
TGI 477 – Returning to the Shadowlands
We kick off the show with some thoughts on the latest return to 2011 with Skyward Sword HD, out on Friday. More thoughts on that next week! Speaking of Year 1 TGI fun, Ryan continues his time with the Mass Effect Legendary Edition having finished up Mass Effect 2. Jocelyn brings Shadowlands back to the Inn, with the latest content patch 9.1 – Chains of Domination. If you’re trying to avoid story spoilers, you may want to skip over the discussion starting at the time marked below. After the WoW update, we move over to the news where Netflix is making moves into the video game industry by hiring an ex-EA and Facebook executive to be VP of Game Development.
TGI 476 – Yes, That Leon
Lou returns to the show to help Ryan discuss the brand new Resident Evil animated series from Netflix title Infinite Darkness. But before we breakdown the new zombie drama, Lou and Ryan have some additional thoughts to share on the Mass Effect Legendary Edition, which Lou has started playing on PC. In the news, Nintendo finally unveiled their next Switch model with very little internal changes, and Ubisoft confirms Assassin’s Creed Infinity after Jason Schreier spills the beans.
