On this weeks delayed Gamers’ Inn the tired Jocelyn and Ryan discuss video game movies (also a very tired genre)! In What We’re Playing Jocelyn finally picked up Kingdoms of Amalur on Xbox 360 and played a bunch of XBLA demoes. Ryan played the Spelunky demo and the new Mass Effect 3 multiplayer DLC. After some Quick Fire, Topic of the Week is inspired by the news that Sam Raimi is no longer directing the Warcraft movie. This leads into a conversation on video game movies, including what’s our favourite video game movie, our least favourite and even our perfect dream movie! Enjoy!

The problem with Video Game movies is the same problem that Marvel had for years. You need people that play video games/read comics to direct and write the movies. With out somebody that knows the universe and the genre inside and out, you are going to get crap from Hollywood.

Get people like Felica Day, Wil Wheaton, Joss Whedon, and others that know the gaming culture and what it takes to write a game to be involved. It is why Sami Remi did a great first two Spiderman movies, why Peter Jackson did the Lord of the Rings right. They lived in that universe growing up.
