After a bit of a break for summer vacation and sick kids, we return with “Cozy MMO” Palia which is now in Open Beta. As promised, we’ve also been playing Baldur’s Gate III. Just first impressions for now, so expect more Baldur’s Gate III on future episodes this month! Over in the news, Netflix is testing games on TVs (and soon PC/Mac), THQ Nordic had a showcase, and Xbox highlights their new strike system to address bad behaviour.

As Ryan and Jocelyn prepare for Baldur’s Gate III, they share why they’re excited for the massive RPG arriving this week. Jocelyn shares her thoughts on the latest Hearthstone expansion that is live now. While Ryan travels back in time with Tamagotchi and Psychonauts 2 (join our Game Club in the Discord). For video game news, Final Fantasy XIV is heading to Xbox (and possibly more), Nintendo may have a Switch successor ready for the second half of 2024, and Alien is coming to Dead by Daylight.

Thanks to a busy schedule, Ryan has a few quick mobile hits to share including GuessThe.Game on the web and Coffee Golf on iOS/Android. Also, Ryan dived into the latest first person puzzler Viewfinder. Jocelyn on the other hand has been surviving in the post-apocalypse atop a giant lizard in The Wandering Village, which is now on PC Game Pass. Over in the news Blizzard will be bringing their games to Steam, Xbox has created a pizza scented controller, Mortal Kombat 1 confirms their first guest characters, and a few updates on the Microsoft acquisition of Activision Blizzard.

We’ve got some Netflix fun this week with the release of Oxenfree II. But before Ryan chats about that, he goes back and plays Oxenfree I. Both were played on an iPad with the Netflix subscription. There be some time travel discussions in this here segment! Moving to the news, we have a very Microsoft heavy list kicking things off with the change of Xbox Live Gold to Xbox Game Pass Core starting September 14th and Xbox will be launching a new voice reporting feature. And of course, all the latest news on the Microsoft acquisition of Activision Blizzard, including it’s legal fight with the FTC, pausing legal battles with the CMA in the UK, and Sony finally signing a Call of Duty deal.

We are still discovering a lot about this game, but it should be noted that we do discuss story, gameplay, and exploration that would be considered spoilers for those who have not progressed in the game. If you’re avoiding spoilers, best come back to this conversation. That being said, after Tears of the Kingdom we skydive into the news starting off with the ASUS ROG Ally arriving in June, plus three stories for Activision Blizzard including an EU approval, Overwatch 2 PVE mode has been scrapped, and BlizzCon is back on this year. Closing out the news, Amazon is working on a new Lord of the Rings MMO and Dead by Daylight is expanding thanks to Supermassive Games.
