Well in the last week Ryan has been enjoying Injustice: Gods Among Us and FEZ on the Xbox 360 while Jocelyn has been testing out the Neverwinter Beta. Later on in the episode the inn keepers discuss the news story about Nintendo claiming ad revenue from Live Players on YouTube. After a busy week The Gamers’ Inn has returned! Ryan has been unwinding by playing a free beta version of Papers, Please. Jocelyn seems a tad worried that Ryan would use a border control simulator for a country threatened by terrorists as a way to unwind, but really, the game is super fun! Jocelyn is working towards her Long Strange Trip Achievement by bringing orphans into battlegrounds in WoW (which seems super irresponsible Blizzard).

For topic of the week we cover Gimmicks in Video Games, which was inspired by Microsoft Research’s Illumiroom concept. And of course Nintendo is thrown into the mix with talk of motion control and 3D.

This week on the Gamers’ Inn Ryan has been playing his 3DS XL an awful lot, sparking an interesting conversation on playtime tracking and the Raptr service. Jocelyn revisited Darksiders 2, and despite a few reservations still hopes we see a Darksiders 3 (which we touch on in Quick Fire News). For our topic of the week we discussed this years upcoming E3 and all the recent announcements related to the event. Mainly we focus on Nintendo downsizing their E3 presence and Microsoft holding an unveiling event prior to E3.

The Gamers’ Inn is back and we’ve been playing a whole lot of Starcraft II! Jocelyn has wrapped up the campaign for Wings of Liberty and is a few missions into Heart of the Swarm (so keep the spoilers to yourself). Ryan finished the HotS campaign (and is keeping spoilers to himself), so he’s now moved onto the multiplayer. He’s losing a lot, but learning! Finally Ryan spills the beans on Mass Effect 3: Citadel, highly recommended for ALL Mass Effect fans. This weeks topic was the new Civilization V expansion called Brave New World. Both Jocelyn and Ryan agree it wouldn’t be a “Brave New World” without adding a Canadian civilization. Get on it Firaxis!

Finally Ryan filled everyone in on Assassin’s Creed III’s first DLC episode of Tyranny of King Washington.

Jocelyn has been playing Magic the Gathering 2013, which Ryan believes to be in the style of the Yu-Gi-Oh TV show (which it isn’t). Ryan talks about the Fire Emblem demo on 3DS as well as the return of Spartan Ops. This week was huge for news with Nintendo spilling the beans on a bunch of 2013 projects on Wii U and the split up and sale of THQ assets. All this and a new contest from Dog House Systems where you could win Kerrigan’s rifle from Starcraft II, created by Punished Props Bill Doran.

The Gamers’ Inn returns with more talk of Blizzard titles and WiiU. Yes… The WiiU is still a thing, stop asking. What We’re Playing sees Jocelyn FINALLY beating Joel in Starcraft 2 and she has the replay to prove it. Also Ryan shows off his inner pyromaniac with Little Inferno, a downloadable title available for WiiU and PC. Finally Ryan, the all around apologetic gamer, doesn’t hate Assassin’s Creed III… Yet! More on that in the coming weeks I’m sure.

In Topic of the Week Jocelyn had a bit of a run in with EA customer service relating to an issue with Origin, they’re Steam competitor. While the end result may have been not being able to play games, the actual issue proves to be even more of a security headache.

Holy crap! We’ve been doing The Gamers’ Inn for a whole year now! But before we get to that we wrap up our spoiler talk of TellTale’s The Walking Dead. Jocelyn has finished the series and the inn keepers discuss the second half of the much loved game (but only liked by Jocelyn). Also take note Nintendo, Ryan has a few choice words for you when it comes to the MiiVerse. Gets pretty heated in the first half of this episode!

You know, the channel that has the UFC reality shows and CSI reruns? Yah that one! Anyways, we go over some of the big winners, the world premieres, how Spike sees gamers, and much more. Episode 51 – Zombie Girl Fight

December of 2012 is upon us, and just like clockwork the Gamers’ Inn is back this week with a Bioware filled What We’re Playing and multiplatform multiplayer in Topic of the Week. Jocelyn has had some time on her hands and has revisted Skyrim to play Dawngaurd and Hearthfire DLC in preparation for Dragonborn. Skyrim not being enough RPG she also started playing Dragon Age Origins, and she swears she likes it! Ryan wrapped up the Omega DLC for Mass Effect 3, which still hasn’t solved the problem with DLC for that game. Also stories of Fable: The Journey, dieing in ZombiU, and XCOM DLC save bugs!

In Topic of the Week the inn keepers discuss multiplatform multiplayer. Wouldn’t it be great to pick up Black Ops on PS3 and still be able to play your friends who own it on Xbox? In a perfect world that’s how it would work, but unfortunatly the big console makers don’t like to play nice. How do we see this vision working? What examples are already out there in the wild? In What We’re Playing we revisit some old favourites as Joel is catching up on the Mass Effect series and enjoying Transformers: War For Cybertron. Now, the elephant in the room, Wii U. Ryan picked it up on Sunday and he gives his first impression of the system and three launch titles: NintendoLand, New Super Mario Bros. U, and ZombiU.

For Topic of the Week Ryan and Joel cover animation in video games. Joel is a cartoonist and worked for 6 years in TV animation, and has some things to say on the topic. While we do point out some bad eggs there are definitely some shining examples of how to do animation correctly in video games, so be sure to listen!

For Halo 4 Jocelyn is six chapters in but not so sure about the games future in her collection where as Ryan raced through the campaign and is really enjoying it.

After a short Quick Fire news (Halo 4 sort of dominated the video game industry this week), Jocelyn and Ryan take on Video Game Mashups for Topic of the Week. We cover mashups of Video Games and Movies like Angry Birds Star Wars, which inspired the topic, and mashups of Video Games Universes like the Super Smash Brothers series.

The inn keepers return this week with tales of HalCon, Fable 3 and BioShock Infinite, oh my! Joce hasn’t played much but is very excited about some upcoming releases.

The big news this week is the wrap up of The Gamers’ Inn Road to Halo 4 segment, where the hosts finished off with Halo: Reach before the launch of Halo 4 on Tuesday. This just happens to coincide with Joce’s day off, woot! After a tangent about armor and what it may or may not be covering, both hosts agree they are excited about Halo 4, which everyone expected from Ryan but was surprised to hear from Joce.

So on to the episode! This week our innkeepers played games for charity for 24 hours straight. Every 2-3 hours we did a check in, talked about the games we had been playing, and included a few guests like Rick Pivin, Lou Page, Kevin Lemel, Paul Swickard and Joel Duggan. The Gamers’ Inn is back this week with a huge change, we gave video a try! With our big Mists of Pandaria episode coming next week, Jocelyn and Ryan reveal how little else they’ve been playing. Jocelyn fooled around with Castle Crashers while Ryan played some New Super Mario Brothers 2 DLC.

The fall lineup of video game releases then took center stage for our Topic of the Week (featuring LEGO LOTR, Halo 4 and Resident Evil 6).

On our next episode we will be joined by Mark “The Turpster” Turpin to chat about Halo ODST and his thoughts on the upcoming Halo 4 release, as well as tonnes of Mists of Pandaria talk. Episode 40 – Wrath of the Lick King

The Gamers’ Inn is back this week with a continuation of Road to Halo 4 with a focus on Halo 3! Before that Ryan discusses his reasoning behind preordering the Wii U as well as a discussion on the Kirby 20th Anniversary Collection for Wii. Yah… He kept it pretty Nintendo this week… However, Jocelyn makes up for that by going over Borderlands and her hesitation to pick up the sequel, also she shares a small issue she overcame in WoW this week.

Topic of the Week is dominated by Road to Halo 4! Both inn keepers actually enjoyed playing through Halo 3, which resulted in a long and interesting discussion about story, graphics, and gameplay. What will the ending of Halo 3 mean for Halo 4?

On our next episode of Road to Halo 4, Mark “The Turpster” Turpin will be on the show to discuss Halo 3: ODST and Mists of Pandaria. Jocelyn and Ryan continue their talk of MMO’s this week with Joce playing more WoW and Ryan Guild Wars 2. A bit of a heated discussion starts when the topic of people being UNABLE to buy GW2 from the ArenaNet website as a digital download is brought up. Afterwards Ryan gives a “quick” rundown on The Walking Dead: Episode 3 and describes it as an awesome depression causing game.

For Topic of the Week the inn keepers discuss downloadable content. How much should these add-ons cost? How late a release for DLC is too late? Is exclusivity dumb or is it just plain dumb? Alongside those questions the new Mass Effect 3 DLC Leviathan is covered, a 10 dollar expansion to the single player experience.

In our discussion of Halo 2 Jocelyn played the Xbox version and Ryan played the updated PC version. We start this week off with a giveaway! Hero Academy on Steam is being sent out to Bobafettish, congrats! In What We’re Playing both Jocelyn and Ryan are playing Darksiders II and Hero Academy. Ryan also played some more Kinect with Happy Action Theatre, while Jocelyn discussed her altaholic nature in World of Warcraft.

After some Quick Fire News we discuss the “Girlfriend Mode” story in Topic of the Week and dive in to more general sexism in the Video Game Industry. It was quite the interesting conversation, and the chat room was having a blast listening in. You’ll hear a bit of it in the outro but this episode was a great example of why you should always tune in live for the post show.

In What We’re Playing Ryan has been playing smaller chunks of games with Agent Dash on iOS, Wreckateer for Kinect, and Left 4 Dead 2 while Jocelyn is still trudging through KoA and thoroughly enjoying Civ V: Gods & Kings. Finally we conclude the show with our Road to Halo 4 segment covering the first game in the franchise, Halo: Combat Evolved.

One week after the release of Mass Effect 3 the Gamers’ Inn is still going strong. We start things off by giving details on our first GIG (Gamers’ Inn Game) Night! Moving on to what they’ve been playing Jocelyn and Ryan live up to their pact to play WoW and Skyrim respectively. Gamers’ Inn returns this week jam packed with news, games we’ve been playing, and a discussion on mods! On the news front we have a new team in Hero Academy and Mass Effect 3 early… IN SPAAAACE! Jocelyn and Ryan played the Mass Effect 3 demo, but Ryan got to give the Kinect integration a shot as well as the multiplayer component. Moving on to a discussion on mods Jocelyn spent the better part of the last week prepping a Portal 2 mod as a Valentine’s gift. Think that sounds like a lot? Well it is, and there’s more awesome in this weeks Gamers’ Inn!
